Home remedies to help your hair grow

Contents

Here’s a secret lots of people don’t want you to know – there actually is no way to make your hair grow faster. There’s a maximum speed at which all hair grows. The reason it sometimes seems to be growing faster than other times is that it’s slowed down when you have hair health issues. What this means is that if you can keep your scalp as healthy as possible with the essential nutrients it needs, it’ll seem like your hair’s growing faster when actually it’s just growing at optimal speed.  The first thing you have to do is to avoid what damages your hair the most.

The importance of shampoo

First things first.  If you don’t have a healthy scalp you wont grow your hair at an optimum level.  The first thing you need to do is find the best shampoo for your needs.  There’s simply no point in doing anything until you have the right shampoo and conditioner to help you get some healthy looking locks!

7 Home Remedies

Here are 7 home remedies that you can use to help your scalp maintain a healthy balance and grow those hairs the way it’s supposed to.

Hot Oil Massage

Probably the most effective home remedy treatment is a hot oil massage. It helps by promoting good blood circulation in your scalp. This helps those little follicles do their best. There are lots of different oils you can use like coconut oil and castor oil. These are wonderful because they’re all-natural so they don’t damage hair. Apply for about an hour and then rinse off.

Olive Oil

Olive oil’s not just great for cooking; it’s also a nice remedy for your hair. For best results, apply olive oil to your hair once a week for about 20 minutes. After the time is up, wash it out with lukewarm water.

Olive Oil and Egg Whites

You can also try mixing olive oil with egg whites. Apply the mixture to your hair and let it sit for three hours before you wash it out. This is a great mixture to use with a scalp massage and if you add honey this gives it even more luster and shine.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is being spruiked as a bit of a cure-all, miracle substance at the moment by many health practitioners but is coconut oil good for your hair?

Aloe Vera and Honey

Aloe Vera is a leaf that has all kinds of medicinal properties. It’s wonderful for scalp massages. Take three leaves of Aloe Vera, scrape off the gel and mix it with a little bit of honey. Put this mixture on your scalp for 20 minutes before rinsing it off.

Onion

You might be surprised to find out that onion is great for your hair. It helps you regenerate your hair follicles. There are a number of different ways you can apply onion to your scalp. One is to mix chopped onion with shampoo and let it sit for a couple of weeks. Boil this mixture in water for 15 minutes and apply it to your hair. I have never personally tried this one. I just can’t get past the idea of stinky onions in my hair, but I have heard of other people having success with this technique.

Potato Water

I don’t know how often you boil potatoes, but you can use the water you boiled them in again to treat your hair. This method is really simple. Just wash your hair with the potato water after your regular shampoo.

Drink Water

One of the easiest home remedies is also one of the most-forgotten – water. No, I don’t mean putting it on your scalp; I mean drinking it! Inside your body, water turns into moisture that your hair can use. Without water, your hair becomes dull and weak. Drink at least five glasses a day. More is even better.

Remember that everything natural isn’t necessarily safe. Talk to your hair stylist if you’re not sure about a certain home remedy. You don’t want to try it out and find out by accident that it can damage your hair.
